Here are some photos of the Northern Hawk Owl seen in Clinton New York. This bird was our first and most important target bird of the Adirondack trip, which we got on day 1. I had to be very selective of the photos to post because my captures took place just after the Hawk Owl had captured a Vole, which it then proceeded to eat. Here are a few.

Gorgeous shots! Had my first hawk owl up there just over a year ago: isn't the north country wonderful?
Thanks Corey. Yep, that place is great! Can't wait to go back up there and bird some more. Maybe next time, we will do the haul?

@Dan - thanks, it was great to soak in that bird. Wished I could have stayed to observe it some more.
Very nice shots of the hawk owl.
Wow!! What a beautiful Hawk! You really have some great photos there!
I love the photos--great shots. I have never seen this hawk.
...I mean hawk owl
Awesome!!!!!!
Nice Shots!! Where were you in the Adirondacks? We have a house in Speculator NY. Finally got a loon on our lake this summer and I got some good pictures of it while I circled around in the boat for a while and kept missing it since they pop up 30 feet away from where the went under!! We also had a nest with an osprey family on a pole above the lake
