Banded Red Knot at Big Egg Marsh Queens NY...

Well, I finally got one. I have documented banded Red Knots at several sites around NY, but never at Big Egg Marsh in Queens, so imagine how "chuffed as nuts" I was when I spotted a banded Red Knot this morning. I managed a few digiscope shots before fishermen activity flushed the flock of shorebirds I was studying and the bird never returned in the time I was there. I will post an update once I learn where and when this bird was banded and include any data I could obtain on additional re-sightings.

I never seen in my birding trips a banded bird. All these species and the American plover visit non reproductive season in my country, specially in a place called Punta Rasa, you can see it in my blog
