Short-billed Dowitchers on the East Pond at Jamaica Bay. |
With the pending rainy weather, I visited the
East Pond to check on the water level and also to assess the shorebird turnover. The prediction of 2 inches of rain by the time the storm front moves through, is a bit worrisome, as the water level is expected to rise and that cannot be good for the smaller shorebirds. I will attempt to check the water level as soon as I could and report back on the shoreline.
